Calling all portraiture fans! A low 19/300 limited edition lithographic print of the fisherman F.B. Smoot by the Maryland artist John E. Bannon (1933-2017). 1989 piece is signed by artist, numbered in pencil, under glass and professionally matted and framed. Light wood rolled frame has a few age rubs, corners are tight back dust cover has a few small tears. Wire hanging hardware. Bright colors with no staining or losses on image or fabric woven mat. Image has so much depth and character. An excellent portrait for your home. When you move the 17x14 frame around you can hear a "mouse" in the frame. I will not be pulling the piece apart of diagnose the source of the noise. Sight size is 12x9.

A member of Oil Painters of America, John has exhibited his art for more than forty years in the U.S. and abroad. He has been represented by more than 25 galleries and has presented more than 40 solo exhibitions. In Baltimore during the sixties, John was a co-founder and exhibiting artist of The Six Realists Gallery, which received wide acclaim for what was then a defiant stand for traditional art. In 1970, he was also a founder of the Dorchester Art Center, which still flourishes in Cambridge, Maryland.
Awards to John Bannon's artwork include: The Henry Walters Prize, the Maryland Institute of Art, Baltimore, Purchase Prize, The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., Purchase Prize, The Pennsylvania Academy, Philadelphia, PA, Purchase Prize, The Easton Academy of Art, Easton, MD and others. In addition to the permanent collections of the museums listed above, John’s paintings are in The Hall of Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon and the Art Collection of the Superior Court, in Washington, D.C., the St. George Association in New York, the Pennsylvania Academy of Art, and many other public and private collections.
